Welcome to Southwark Stayhouse, our brand new online streaming service where we’ll be sharing full-length shows and exclusive video content. We’ll keep everything online until our doors are able to open again on Newington Causeway. All shows are free, so you can watch them whenever you want.
We’re launching with Wasted, a new rock musical we did about the Brontë siblings in 2018 (★★★★ “A fantastically witty, mischievous and camp musical.” The Guardian). It’s directed by Adam Lenson with music by Christopher Ash and book and lyrics by Carl Miller. We’ve also got our riotously fun take on Twelfth Night, set at a music festival (Illyria, obv) which we did in 2019, directed by Anna Girvan. And we’ve got one from the vaults (literally). Bound by Jesse Briton (★★★★★ “One of the most accomplished pieces of debut playwriting that I’ve seen in a long time.” Evening Standard) which premiered in our old Vault space at London Bridge and went on to be nominated for an Evening Standard Award for Most Promising Playwright, is available to watch below too. Alongside these three full-length shows we’ll be releasing more content fortnightly plus any projects that our pals are doing like Philip Ridley’s The Beast Will Rise monologues – from the world premiere of The Beast of Blue Yonder which was due to open at the beginning of April.
Happy watching, stay safe, and we’ll see you soon.
We’ve been Waiting For Life, finding Simple Joys, and hoping that It Won’t Be Long Now – oh yeah, and we made a musical theatre playlist featuring all your fave SP hits, to blast while you’re social distancing.
