Based on the writer’s own experiences, Night City is an epic new drama about the hilarious highs and devastating lows of London’s gig economy.
It follows a hedonistic taxi driver, a waitress with big dreams, and a carer with a big heart who makes a fatal error one night, plunging all their lives into chaos. And a political conspiracy that they will never forget.
Night City is an epic tale of love, loss and laughter and how we might stand more united against corruption and a strange future.
Written by critically acclaimed Max Wilkinson (‘Rainer/Union’) and directed by award-nominated Ebenezer Bamgboye (‘The Lonely Londoners’ (Kiln), ‘Desire Under the Elms’ (Almeida)), this production features an ensemble cast including Jack Ambrose (‘The Real Thing’ (The Old Vic)), Helena Pipe (‘The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind’ (RSC/West End)) and Bex Smith (‘Liberation’ (Manchester Royal Exchange)).
The production is supported by the Arts Council England and Stage One.

All Night City post show events are being held after the evening (7.30pm) performance and will last approximately 30 minutes. Entry is free with a ticket to the same day’s evening performance.
Thursday 17 September – Post-show Q&A chaired by Terri Paddock with some of the show’s creatives and cast.

A post-show talk about the process of making the show, followed by a discussion with Dr Sarmila Bose from the Work Rights Centre about the wider issues around the gig economy, including the day-to-day realities of supporting vulnerable workers in low-paid and insecure work, and the challenges gig workers face in understanding and accessing their rights in London.
