Black Writers’ Collective
The Collective is a writing group for anyone aged 18+ who identifies as Black.
It meets every other Monday during term times from 7.00 – 9.00pm, both in person at Southwark Playhouse and online, and provides:
– Regular meetings online and in person at Southwark Playhouse, which offer a combination of industry talks/Q&As, writing exercises and space to share work and get feedback.
– Regular bulletins to share other opportunities or projects from both within and outside the Collective.
– Termly 1-1 feedback sessions on your work.
– Rehearsal or office/writing space at Southwark Playhouse, subject to availability.
– Again subject to availability, space for one-off or short runs of work for the purposes of R&D.
– Smaller scale opportunities to showcase work through scratch nights or similar.
– Free or reduced tickets to selected performances at Southwark Playhouse.
Please note that the Black Writers’ Collective is not a pipeline to a full production run in any of our theatres, but it can provide guidance in making connections with directors, producers and funders to give you the development support for your work, which might lead to you being able to propose a show to the Playhouse, or any other theatre, accordingly.
