Southwark Playhouse Black Writers Collective Saturday 25 July to Saturday 26 September
The next phase of last year’s Black History Month project is our brand new writing group, Black Writers Collective led by award-winning playwright and actor Yolanda Mercy. If you’re aged 16 to 25, live in Southwark or Lambeth and are interested in writing, we’re seeking fifteen people from Black British, African or Caribbean backgrounds for this new group. Each session will be led by Yolanda and feature a different specially invited guest every week. The project will run for ten weeks from Saturday 25 July to Saturday 26 September. All sessions will take place on Zoom and it’s completely free to join. Please email our Youth and Community Director David Workman on email@example.com if you’re interested in joining or just want a bit more info.
Southwark Playhouse Reading Group Every Thursday, 10.30am – 12.00pm
Come and join us in the cafe at Southwark Playhouse each week as we read a story together and discuss it over a hot drink. No obligation to read publicly or to join in the discussion, just come along to listen if you like! Please note this group is currently operating online.
If you’re coming for the first time, do call the theatre to check the group is running that week.
Alongside the People’s Company, we do run occasional workshops for the Elephant and Castle/ Southwark community in general. Keep an eye out here, where we will announce any upcoming events.
If you work or volunteer with a community group based in Southwark, and might be interested in seeing how you can engage with us further, do email firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more.
