A STATEMENT FROM SOUTHWARK PLAYHOUSE

Following the announcement by the government on the 16 March 2020, we have reluctantly made the decision to cease performances – initially for the next eight weeks. This is a huge and unprecedented period of uncertainty for Southwark Playhouse, our staff, audiences and for the theatre and live events industry.

We are deeply committed to our founding values of supporting new and emerging companies, particularly during difficult periods. We acknowledge that cancelling events has a huge impact, but as you all know from the news over the last few days it has become impossible to operate as usual without significant consequences to everyone’s safety.

As a charity receiving no core funding, we’d really like to thank all of you for your continued support as we try to work together during this strange and challenging time. Please rest assured that we will return – stronger than ever – and we can’t wait to welcome you all back when we do.

If you have booked for a forthcoming performance in the next eight weeks, please call our box office for a refund or to let us know if you’re happy to donate your ticket purchase on 020 7407 0234. We are monitoring our box office lines remotely. Our ‘opening times’ are from 10am – 6pm Monday to Friday plus from 10am – 1pm on Saturday.
